Police launch appeal after lorry driver dies in A77 crash in Ayrshire

A fatal crash involving a lorry driver on the A77 has sparked a police appeal for information.

The driver lost his life when his Mercedes Acrtos HGV crashed near to Kirkoswald around 9am yesterday (Wednesday).

Emergency services attended and the 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed and re-opened around 12.30pm.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

“In particular, we are appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to make contact with officers.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0702 of Wednesday, 28 December, 2022.
