Police launch appeal after car is deliberately set on fire in Blantyre street

A car was deliberately set on fire in a Blantyre on Tuesday (November 24).

Police are appealing for information on the “reckless" act which took place in Valerio Court at around 11.25pm.

Fire crews attended the scene and extinguished the blaze safely, and there were no injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire, which is currently being treated as suspicious.

Police are particularly interested in possible dashcam footage or CCTV available as they ask members of the public to come forward and assist.

Detective Constable Christine McLanachan, from Cambuslang CID, said: “Thankfully nobody was injured as a result of this reckless and dangerous act.

“We are appealing to anyone who has any information or may have been in the area and has possible CCTV or dashcam footage, to please come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3602 of 24 November.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.
