Police latest update as man fights for life after 'nasty fight' near Yacht Club

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted at Liverpool Marina on Friday.

Emergency services attended the scene, near the Yacht Club, after reports of an attack just before 8pm, on October 15.

A victim, a man in his 70s, was rushed to hospital where he is described as being in a 'critical but stable' condition.

Police confirmed that a man in his 40s was caught by officers close by and arrested on s uspicion of assault.

The man has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

The alleged attack led detectives to establish a large cordoned off area that surrounded The Yacht Club restaurant, its car park and a section of pavement along South Ferry Quay.

Police turned away Yacht Club customers, with potential witnesses said to have been kept inside the establishment while enquiries were launched.

One man told the ECHO he had seen a "nasty fight" outside the premises.
