Police latest after cyclist suffers serious injuries in HGV collision near University of Bristol precinct

Emergency services are responding to a "serious injury collision" on Priory Road in Clifton, Bristol, resulting in road closures in the surrounding areas.

Police, fire, and ambulance services were called to an incident where an adult cyclist was in collision with a HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) at 8:50am today (Wednesday, September 22).

Avon and Somerset Police have closed Elmdale Road, as well as Tyndall's Park Road between Whiteladies Road and Woodland Road.

The closure will remain in place as collision investigators examine the scene and recover the vehicle.

The area is home to both the University of Bristol and Bristol Grammar School.

People in the area report heavy traffic throughout the morning that is thought to be a result of the road closures in the surrounding area.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement published on Twitter: "There's been a serious injury collision on Priory Road, Clifton, Bristol involving an adult cyclist and an HGV this morning (Wednesday, September 22).

"Elmdale Road and Tyndall's Park Road are closed as a result."
