Police keen to trace this man after fight on night Liverpool won the Premier League

A 27-year-old man from Birkenhead could help police in relation to a violent incident outside Anfield on the night Liverpool FC lifted the Premier League trophy.

Police have said they are keen to speak to Jack Stuart Hayes after an "incident of violent disorder" outside Anfield last July.

The ECHO understands the alleged incident happened on the night Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy after their home win again Chelsea on July 22 last year.

An estimated 3,000 fans turned up outside the ground on the night, despite pleas for people to stay clear of the stadium from Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council, the club themselves and influential supporters group Spirit of Shankly.

In the build up to the game, Liverpool released a number of statements urging supporters to steer clear when the Premier League title was celebrated behind closed doors.

Although police made a number of arrests on the night after a spate of incidents, there was not a repeat of the large scale disorder seen at Pier Head after Liverpool were crowned champions.

Police now wish to speak to Hayes in relation to an incident outside the ground on the night of July 22, and in relation to the recovery of cannabis.

A police spokesman said: " Officers investigating an incident of violent disorder outside Anfield football ground in July last year believe the 27 year-old could assist with their investigation.

"They would also like to speak to him in connection with a large quantity of cannabis recovered from a vehicle.

"Hayes, who is originally from the Birkenhead area, is described as a white male, 5ft 9in tall, of medium build with brown hair and brown eyes."

Anyone who has seen Hayes or has any information about his whereabouts is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
