Police arrest man over erratic driving incident in Bourke Street Mall

A bystander shot video of the incident on their mobile phone.

Police have arrested a man in relation to the incident last week when a car sped down Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall to evade officers.

The 20-year-old man was arrested in Ballarat just before 4:00pm today.

The man, who police earlier today named as Bryce O'Donnell, allegedly drove a car down Bourke Street Mall on January 28.

The vehicle allegedly evaded police, travelling north on Swanston Street before turning down the mall and driving along the tram tracks before crashing into a bollard.

The car was later found in a parking garage in Albert Park without number plates.

In a statement, police said the man was currently in custody assisting police with enquiries.

Police said they were no longer searching for anyone else in relation to the incident.
