Police issue warning over planned rave in Llanelli quarry

Police have issued a warning over a planned rave in a quarry in Llanelli scheduled for Friday.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they have been made aware of a "large gathering of youths" planning the rave.

Officers said the event was planned around the Furnace Quarry area for Friday evening.

On Twitter they said: "Police are aware and will be monitoring this area.

"Parents please be aware of underage drinking and this area being a hazardous site."

The warning comes after thousands attended an illegal rave in woods in Banwen on August 30.

The rave started in the early hours of Sunday in the Neath Port Talbot community and was declared "over" by police on Monday night, August 31.

Police said up to 3,000 people attended the illegal event, with hundreds still there on Monday afternoon. Police have issued 22 people with summons notices.

Newly-introduced powers mean organisers of such events can now be fined £10,000.
