Police issue warning over East Lothian youths recklessly riding motorbikes on public walkways

Police in East Lothian have issued a public warning to youths in the area after multiple reports have been received of individuals recklessly riding motorbikes.

The force took to social media today to spread awareness of the incidents on the Railway Walk between Haddington and Longniddry.

Youths have been spotted riding off-road motorbikes in a dangerous and antisocial manner on the walkway in recent weeks, posing a threat to nearby walkers and wildlife.

Police confirmed they are now carrying out high visibility community patrols to ensure this behaviour does not continue and have stated these patrols will last throughout the summer months.

Officers also used their post to remind anyone reading that if they are caught or offences are detected, riders face being reported to the Procurator Fiscal or having their motorbikes seized.

Another motorcyclist was also stopped in Tranent for driving twice over the enforced speed limit.
