Police issue warning after man found walking on M1 motorway

Police have warned people not to walk down the M1 motorway after finding a man on the road.

The man was reportedly trying to make his way to Leicester.

The Nottingham Roads Policing team have instead suggested phoning a friend or taking a taxi if you are stranded in Nottingham.

Police have said that thanks to Highways East Midlands and local crews, "the male is being dealt with."

A tweet from Notts Roads Policing team read: "If you find yourself stranded in Nottingham and need to get to Leicester then you should either phone a friend or phone for a taxi.

"You shouldn't walk down the M1 motorway!

"Thanks to HighwaysEMIDS and local crews the male is being dealt with.
