Police issue warning after elderly residents targeted by 'rogue traders' in Stockport

Police have issued a warning about 'rogue traders' targeting elderly residents in Stockport.

Two 'possible rogue traders' have been knocking on doors in Heald Green, offering to fix roofs and gutters.

Officers said the two males, believed to be in their 20s, have been targeting elderly people.

On Thursday (April 30), the men were knocking on doors, engaging in conversation then looking at the exterior of the house.

GMP are now advising members of the public to let their elderly relatives know about the rogue traders and to 'remain vigilant'.

In a post on the GMP Cheadle and Bramhall page, an officer said: "On 30/04/2020 we received reports of possible rogue traders in the Heald Green area, offering to fix roofs and guttering's.

"The two males in their 20's appeared to be targeting elderly residents by knocking on doors, engaging in conversation and looking at the exterior property.

"Please advise your elderly relatives of this information and to remain vigilant at all times.

"If you have a vulnerable neighbour on your street please keep an eye on them and should you witness any suspicious circumstances, report it to 101."
