Police issue warning after alleged footage connected with serious sexual assault shared on social media

Police have issued a strong warning after footage claiming to be related to a serious sexual assault in Dundee was circulated on social media.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault on a woman in the city.

He is due to appear before Dundee Sheriff Court tomorrow, September 9.

However, cops have warned the public after video footage was shared claiming to be connected to the incident.

In a statement Police Scotland said: “We are aware of the footage that was being circulated and shared on social media yesterday (Monday, 7 September) allegedly connected to this incident.

“It is against the law to share such footage.

We would also like to remind the public that legal proceedings are now active in this case.”
