“Please remember to lock doors, windows and set alarms. Check vehicles are secure and locked when parked at all times.”
GMP also urged the public to make sure their parked vehicles are locked and secure, even when parked at home.
"Keeping your homes secure is a key way to deter offenders," GMP added.
In a statement, Councillor Basil Curley, Labour Councillor for Charlestown, told the Manchester Evening News: “I’m saddened that we are experiencing crime in some of the neighbourhoods in the Charlestown ward and very pleased that GMP are cracking down on those who are committing these crimes.
"People become very stressed when they discover that their homes have been broken into and property stolen or damaged and action of GMP is welcomed by all Charlestown ward communities”.
