Police are urging witnesses to come forward after a man was hit by a bus in Bolton town centre.
Emergency services were called out at around 1.40pm on Tuesday (August 31) after a bus was involved in a collision with the pedestrian.
Greater Manchester Police says the bus was travelling along Newport Street towards Trinity Street when the collision happened.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries which were not life threatening, while the bus driver helped officers with their enquiries at the scene.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed a man in his 50s was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with a serious head injury.
Newport Street was closed between Section Street and The York pub while police and the ambulance service worked at the scene.
Police are investigating the incident and are urging anyone who saw the collision to come forward with information.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "Officers are currently investigating a collision on Newport Street, Bolton where a man was injured.
"Shortly before 1.40pm on Tuesday (August 31, 2021) a bus was travelling along Newport Street towards Trinity Street when it was involved in a collision with a male pedestrian.

"The driver of the vehicle assisted officers with their enquires at the scene.
"The man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
"Police Constable Garner from GMP's Roads Policing Unit is appealing for any information and would like to speak to anyone who was on the bus or saw the incident take place."
