Police issue update on two men injured in brutal Croxteth double shooting

Merseyside Police have issued an update on the condition of two men injured in a brutal double shooting in Croxteth yesterday.

Shortly before 6pm on Thursday night, emergency services were called to Regal Road in Croxteth to reports of a shooting.

Armed officers descended on the area, with paramedics and an air ambulance also rushed to the scene.

Two men were found injured at a property on the road, one with a gunshot wound to the stomach and the other with a gunshot wound to the hip.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed this morning that both men remain in hospital in a stable condition.

Their injuries are not suspected to be life-threatening and further updates on the investigation into the shooting are expected later today.

People living in the area sent pictures and video to the ECHO showing huge crowds in the street as the air ambulance took off from a car park on nearby Stonebridge Lane.

The two victims were rushed to hospital as police launched their investigation into the incident, setting up a cordon and establishing a scene around the location where the men were shot.

Around two hours after the shooting, officers from Merseyside Police 's dog section were called to the scene to remove a dog from a property to allow officers to work within the house.

Matrix officers arrived at around 8.30pm after three forensics had conducted their first search within the cordon.

An inch by inch search was then carried out which saw officers looking under cars and in the front gardens of the homes on the street.

This morning a forensic tent could be seen in the front garden of one property on Regal Road, while a police presence remained in the area.

A burnt-out car was also found close to the scene of a double shooting - but at this point it is unknown whether the car is linked to the incident.

The vehicle, a blue BMW, was found charred and dumped on Willow Way , less than a mile from the scene of the shooting on Regal Road.
