Police issue update as boy, 16, fights for life after being hit by bus

A teenager is fighting for his life after being hit by a bus.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended the scene of a crash on Green Lane, Maghull, at around 5.25pm on Friday, September 2. At the scene, police reported a teenage boy, aged 16, was hit by a single decker bus.

Officers cordoned off the road while the boy was airlifted to hospital. He suffered serious head injuries and police today confirmed he remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries. Merseyside police officers are now are appealing for information after the crash.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.

"Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 692 of 2 September. You can also pass information via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
