Police issue update after two people stabbed inside house following 'disturbance'

Police have issued an update after two people were stabbed inside a house.

At around 10.40am on Thursday it was reported there was a disturbance at a house on Mulberry Road in Rock Ferry during which two people were stabbed and a window smashed. A 38-year-old man received serious injuries to his leg and head which were not believed to be life-threatening.

A 29-year-old woman sustained minor wounds to her arms and both victims were taken to hospital. The suspects rode off on bikes on to Old Chester Road towards Green Lane.

A cordon was in place at both ends of the street on Thursday and forensic officers were also seen working behind police tape on the road and putting evidence into bags. A number of police cars were also in attendance and eyewitnesses said they saw two ambulances at the scene.

In an update today, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said the victims are out of hospital and recovering at home. An investigation is underway and police said "enquiries are ongoing".

In a statement on Thursday, detective inspector Emma Kerrigan said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place and we are appealing for people with information to contact us. I would urge anyone who was in the area of Old Chester Road this morning at around 10.40am onwards to please come forward and help with our enquiries, as your evidence could be vital to the investigation.

"I would also appeal to residents and business with CCTV and doorbell footage which may have captured the suspects riding off, or drivers with dash cam footage to please come forward and speak to us.”
