POLICE say their investigation into the death of a Scottish man who was shot on a Caribbean island is ongoing after a post-mortem examination was carried out.
Daniel Vettrino, who is from Dysart in Fife, was fatally shot on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines on the night of Wednesday June 24.
Police in the Caribbean nation said the post-mortem examination has determined that he died from “exsanguination (bleeding) as a result of multiple gunshot wounds”.
The Royal St Vincent and Grenadines police force said: “Investigations into the matter are ongoing.”
The force appealed for anyone with information to contact its major crimes unit, adding it “extends sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time”.
Mr Vettrino is understood to have been working as a technical service manager at Canouan Estate Resort and Villas.
His brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, had earlier paid tribute in a Facebook post, saying Mr Vettrino was “a pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him”.
Mr Vettrino Kolberg said: “He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world.
“A unique individual, made up of so many qualities and quirks, especially his impeccable ability to drink anyone under the table.
“He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, the family are heartbroken by this loss and grateful for the love and support we have already received.
“We are all currently working hard for his safe return home and upon completion we will make arrangements for a chance for everyone to say their final goodbyes.”
