Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We were made aware of an alleged assault after a man approached patrolling officers on Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham city centre, shortly after 3.30am on May 21.

“Officers immediately attended to the man who had been injured and he was taken to hospital. Thankfully his injuries are now not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.

"A cordon was put in place around the area where he approached the officers but has since been taken down. We would like to reassure the community that we are carrying out a thorough investigation into what happened and do believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to members of the public.

“We would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around that area at that time to call us on 101 or speak to a patrolling officer.” Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 102 of 21 May 2022, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
