Police have issued an update after a man was killed in a crash on the M62 near Greater Manchester. Emergency services raced out to the motorway in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 29) following a crash involving a grey Mercedes and a silver Skoda Fabia.
The crash took place at around 3.45am on the eastbound carriageway, near junction 10 for the Croft Interchange. The Skoda driver, a 61-year-old man from the Wirral, was found seriously injured.
He was rushed to Warrington District General Hospital but sadly died from his injuries. Two men who were in the Mercedes ran from the scene, while two others - aged 21 and 23 - remained and were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In an update, Cheshire Police says the two men have since been bailed. Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward, and for any video footage to be submitted.
Sergeant Russell Sime, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said on Saturday: "This was a serious collision which has resulted in the death of a 61-year-old man, and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place. As part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on the M62, near to Junction 10, at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed the collision.
"The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident. We would also like to hear from anyone who believes that they may have seen the occupants of the Mercedes fleeing the scene on foot following the incident.
"The collision itself occurred near to Mill House Lane, Croft, and we’re urging residents who live in the vicinity of the motorway to review their CCTV cameras for anyone who may have been around their properties from 3.45am [on Saturday]. I urge anyone with any information - no matter how small - to get in touch."
