Police issue update after 'eviction' in Easton

Multiple police cars were spotted in Easton this morning (Monday) as tenants were being 'evicted' from their home.

The cars were spotted alongside an ambulance on St Mark's Road, Easton, with their presence having been first reported around 11am today (September 27).

Both the landlord of the property and police officers were seen in the building throughout today's action.

And around ten people gathered in the vicinity to support the tenants.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said: "We attended this morning to prevent a breach of the peace with respect a civil eviction that was being attempted in St Marks Road.

"Officers are no longer on the scene."

One of the tenants told Bristol Live he was in contact with the council and the police, adding the landlord has no right to stop them using the building.

He claimed they were provided with documents that were two years out of date.

“They are trying to evict us, but it is illegal,” he said.
