Police issue tyre warning as Scots man arrested following serious road collision

Cops have issed a tyre warning as a man was arrested after a 'serious road collision' in Ayrshire.

Police attended the scene of an incident in Ardrossan and a 29 year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Road Policing Officers also observed the man's tyres and discovered they were almost bald.

Police Scotland uploaded an image of the bald tyre to their social media, issuing a warning about driving in such conditions.

They said: "Ayrshire Road Police dealt with a serious road traffic collision in Ardrossan resulting in a 29 year old man being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

"His state of intoxication may not have been the only cause of the collision.

The post ends with Tyre Safety and Don't Risk It hashtags.

Other users reacted on Twitter astonished at the state of the tyre.

One said: "How does he look at this tyre and think 'yes, this will hold up in the rain'? Some people really dont deserve a licence."

Another added: "How can someone look at that tyre and then jump in a vehicle and think it is safe to be driving?"
