Police issue travel warning to drivers as snow arrives in Glasgow

There's a Met Office yellow warning in place for snow today in Glasgow and across almost the whole of Scotland.

While the city is also expected to see patches of rain and sleet showers, with highs of three degrees.

And that has led Police Scotland to issue a travel warning for road users to travel with caution on roads in Glasgow and the surrounding areas - as well as across Strathclyde.

The warning is in place until 10pm this evening, and are advising road users that conditions for travel may be hazardous and that extra caution should be exercised.

Here's what the Police are saying to expect: "Snow is expected to spread northeastwards into Scotland early on Monday, perhaps even falling to low levels during the morning rush hour across and to the south of the Central Belt of Scotland, before spreading northwards into the rest of the warning area.

"If you are travelling you should ensure you and your vehicle are adequately prepared for the conditions making sure you have sufficient fuel and supplies such as warm clothing, food and water in the event you are delayed for several hours. Charge your mobile phone and plan your route as well as alternative routes.

"Also, ensure you drive to the conditions, leaving sufficient distance between you and the vehicle in front to allow you to use smooth braking steering and acceleration to minimise skid risk".
