One woman who lives nearby told the Manchester Evening News : "I saw probably about six or seven police cars and three undercover cars.

"Just before the police arrived they [the man and woman] ran out [from a house on the street].

"Then I heard 'get on the floor, get on the f*****g floor'. The police dog ran at them and grabbed hold of him.

"They then had them pinned down with guns pointed at their heads.

"It was after that the rest of this massive police convoy with armed cops with balaclavas started arriving.

"Eventually they got in and came out with bows, big arrows, metal bats.

"I have never seen that many armed police before."
