Police issue statement as University Boulevard expected to be closed for hours after crash

Police said a major road which was closed after an accident could remain shut for a number of hours.

University Boulevard was closed on Wednesday afternoon, March 31, following a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

The A6005 was cordoned off near Nottingham Tennis Centre.

A spokesperson at Nottinghamshire police said: "There's been a RTC between a pedestrian and a car. We were called out at 3pm.

"We are still investigating as it is an ongoing incident.

"The road [University Boulevard] is likely to be closed for another two to three hours."

Nottingham City Transport said there are "severe delays" as a result of the incident.

There are delays to the Orange 34, Navy 49 and Grey 53 following an RTC on University Boulevard.

Traffic networking site Inrix said: "Congestion to surrounding routes including the A52 Clifton Boulevard for traffic heading away from Clifton Bridge.

"The road was closed at around 15.30pm following an accident at the junction of East Drive near the Tennis Centre. Affecting traffic between Beeston and the City Centre."
