Police have put up a cordon in a Leeds village after a man collapsed in the street.

Emergency services were called to Main Street in Shadwell at 10.35am today, June 24, to reports an elderly man had fallen unconscious in the street.

Residents in the area reported a "big incident" with "lots of police and ambulances".

It happened close to the junction with Hobberley Lane and locals are warning each other not to travel that way as it is blocked off.

The man has been taken to hospital for treatment.

West Yorkshire Police say that a cordon has been put in place while the circumstances are established.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service have also been contacted for more information.
