Police issue statement after streets in Meanwood, Leeds, sealed off

Two people have been arrested after officers in Leeds found two men with "cuts and bruises" following an assault.

West Yorkshire Police issued the statement after two cordons were put in place in Wilton Grove and Sandfield Avenue, Meanwood.

Officers say they were called following reports of a disturbance at 3.23 am this morning [Sunday] at Wilton Grove.

When they attended the scene, officers found two men, both aged 21, had been assaulted.

They had "cuts and bruises" and one of them also had a "laceration to his hand".

West Yorkshire Police arrested two people in connection to this and they added they were still in custody at 3pm.

The statement from the police force reads: “Police were called about a disturbance at 3.23am this morning at Wilton Grove.

“Police discovered two victims of an assault, both of which were males aged 21.

“They had "suffered cuts and bruises and one had a laceration to his hand".

“Police made two arrests and they were still in custody at 3pm.

“West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses.”
