Police issue statement after Morrisons in Nottinghamshire closed due to incident

A Morrisons in Nottinghamshire was closed off to shoppers after a man suffered a 'medical episode' following a theft, police have said.

The supermarket in Ashfield Precinct, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was shut throughout the afternoon after the incident at 1.15pm on Thursday, January 6.

In a statement on their Facebook page at around 4.30pm, Ashfield Police advised shoppers to stay away due to "unforeseen circumstances".

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the closure was due to a "medical episode" after they were called to the shop after a reported theft.

A man was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital.

Inspector Paul Lefford said: “We were called to Morrisons supermarket at Ashfield Precinct, in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, at 1.15pm today to a report of a shop theft.

"A male subsequently suffered a medical episode and was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital.”
