Police investigating the attempted abduction of a five year-old-boy in Brick Lane, east London have released an image of a man they would like to speak to.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area following a report that an unknown male had approached the child as he walked home from school along the busy street in Tower Hamlets.

The suspect is alleged to have followed the boy before trying to grab him by the hand at 6.45pm on Friday, June 25.

The boy was with two other family members who managed to get to a family friend’s home nearby to alert the police. The child was unharmed.

The man was described by police as being of Asian appearance, aged in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing a navy jumper, black jeans, black trainers and a black hat at the time of the incident.
