Police issue fines after Perth party and trip to Glenshee

Police in Perth and Kinross are continuing to crack down on people flouting coronavirus restrictions.

On Sunday, January 24, officers attended a house party in Friar Street in Perth.

They issued five people with fixed penalty notices.

On the same day, officers issued fixed penalty notices to two people who had travelled from St Andrews to Glenshee.

Current restrictions state residents must only meet one other person outdoor for an essential reason.

It is also forbidden to go to a different council area unless for an essential purpose.

Perth and Kinross remains under ‘stay at home’ restrictions with people urged not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.

It comes after the region experienced its most deadly week of the pandemic for the third week running.

Twenty-nine people died from the virus from January 18 to 24.

However, cases are continuing to drop in the region with the most recent infection rate sitting at 113.2 per 100,000, down from 159.9 the week before.

The number of cases dropped from 243 to 172 while the proportion of positive tests is now 5.7 per cent.
