Police issue dispersal order in Mountain Ash across Bonfire Night weekend

Police have issued a dispersal order for Bonfire Night weekend in an effort to curb antisocial behaviour and underage drinking in Mountain Ash.

The Section 34 Order - giving police officers the power to move people out of a specified area and stop them from returning for a period of two days - is in place on Bonfire Night and over the weekend for several parts of the town.

It applies to anyone over the age of 10.

This is the area covered by the order:

Superintendent Marc Attwell, of South Wales Police said: "Following concerns raised by residents and reports of anti-social behaviour, I have today authorised a dispersal order for Mountain Ash, which will be enforced by South Wales Police."

The order will be in place from 5pm on Friday (November 5) until 4.59pm on Sunday, November 7.

Spt Attwell added: "This power enables officers to direct individuals or groups to leave the area if their behaviour has, or is likely to contribute to disorder or cause harassment, alarm or distress to members of the public and applies to anyone over 10 years of age.

"Failing to comply with a direction given by one of our officers could lead to the person being arrested."
