Police issue direct appeal to missing teenager Kai Rae as major search for vulnerable young Scot continues

Police have urged a missing Scots teenager to get in touch after he vanished from his family home on Monday.

Kai Rae was last seen in the Castle Chimmins Road area of Cambuslang at around 8.50am on November 23.

The 16-year-old, who is a student at Anniesland College in Glasgow, was wearing a dark blue or black zipped hoodie and dark blue jogging bottoms when he disappeared.

He is believed to have packed extra clothing and cash before leaving his home.

Extensive searches have been carried out in the local area by kindhearted residents alongside his friends and family but no trace of him has yet been found.

His disappearance is described as ‘completely out of character’ and concern for his welfare continues to grow.

Inspector Stephen McManus, of Rutherglen Police Station, said: "Kai has been missing for three days now.

“This is completely out of character for him and naturally his family is extremely concerned. “We just want to trace him as soon as possible to ensure he is safe and well.

"We would like to thank the members of the public that have contacted us so far.

“We continue to urge anyone who may have seen Kai or spoken to him, such as on social media, to contact police so that we can carry out the necessary enquiries.

"If Kai is reading this, I would ask him to please get in touch with police to let us know that he is safe."

Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne has also issued an appeal for Kai to return home.

In a video message on social media, he said: “Hi Kai, it’s Gazza here. Do us a favour? “Please get home. People are missing you.”

The footballer then blew a kiss at the camera.

Anyone who may have seen Kai or has anyone information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1144 of 23 November.
