Emergency services were called out shortly before 11.45pm on October 16 to reports of an assault.

Enquiries established that the victim had been involved in a disturbance with the offenders within the takeaway on Churchgate.

He was later attacked on the pavement outside of the shop, GMP says.

The victim has since been discharged from hospital.

No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the attack, or who recognises the men in the images, is being urged to come forward.

PC Megan Shannon, of GMP's Bolton division, said: "This was a horrific assault which left a man with serious injuries.

"We are continuing our investigation and have now obtained CCTV images of two men we would like to speak to in relation to the attack.

"If you know who these men are, I would urge you to please contact police as soon as possible."

Any witnesses or anyone who recognises the two men can contact GMP on 101 or report it online at gmp.police.uk quoting log 3167 of October 16, 2021.

Alternatively, report it anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
