Police issue appeal after thug subjects staff to terrifying robbery at corner shop

A knife-wielding thug made off with a three-figure sum of cash during a terrifying robbery at a corner shop in Carluke.

The masked man entered the Day Today on Lawhill Road brandishing a knife at around 12.40pm on Sunday, April 12.

An unidentified man entered the shop and threatened a staff member with a knife before stealing a sum of cash.

He then left the premises and was last seen heading in the direction of Station Road.

He is described as being in his late teens, around 5ft 5in tall and wearing dark clothing, including an item covering his face.

Detective Constable Scott Pollock, from Wishaw CID, said: “Fortunately nobody was injured but the female member of staff was naturally left extremely shaken by the experience.

“Our enquiries are now ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help identify this individual or who may have any more information to come forward.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 1565 of 12 April, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
