Police issue another 11 CCTV images of Bristol City and Swansea fans after February violence

Police investigating trouble between Swansea City and Bristol City fans have issued CCTV images of another 11 men they want to identify.

The two teams played each other in a league match at Ashton Gate on Saturday, February 2, and there was what the police have described as ‘anti social behaviour and violence’ "Ban them all" - Violence flares as Swansea City and Bristol City fans clash at Ashton Gate.

Video footage of trouble between both sets of fans in the area between the Atyeo Stand, where the Swansea City fans were, and the Dolman Stand, where the Bristol City fans were sitting, was widely shared on social media and reported by Bristol Live in the aftermath of the game.

Both sets of fans attempted to confront each other in the space between the corner of each stand, with some Bristol City fans ending up on the pitch.

There was also trouble before and after the game, and a Dog injured and police officers assaulted during violent clash between Bristol City and Swansea football fans to try to break up large groups of supporters from both sides who were fighting in Greville Smyth Park near the ground.

Police arrested four men, who were charged almost a fortnight later.

Of those, Ryan Greenslade, from Brislington was Man jailed over football disorder at Bristol City vs Swansea City match on March 21, and the 26-year-old was also banned from all football for six years.

Police said since those initial four charges, they have been trawling through CCTV of the match, the crowd and video footage filmed by the police spotters on the day of the game.

They said another 11 fans - five from Bristol and six from Swansea - have been identified and brought in for questioning, with nine about to be summoned to court for public order or football-related offences, and the other two due to receive conditional cautions, expected to include a 16-week ban from attending football matches.

Avon and Somerset police have today (April 24) issued images of 11 more people who they want to question but do not know their identities.

The 11 images are of five men who were in the Swansea City contingent of fans and another six who were in the Bristol City part of the ground.

The police have a designated major operation in place to track down and prosecute all those involved in disorder on that day - something they have called Operation Boulevard.

DI David Lewis, the man in charge of that operation, said officers investigating assault and public order offences have issued images of 11 men they’re keen to identify and speak to.

“This is a complex enquiry involving Bristol City FC, Ashton Gate Stadium and Swansea City FC, as well as British Transport Police and South Wales Police colleagues,” he said.

“We’re committed to dealing robustly with those involved in football-related disorder."

“Anyone with information which could help police identify the men in these images is asked to get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting Operation Boulevard.

“Alternatively ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call,” he added.
