Police issue 15 warnings after people are found parked up at popular Swansea walking spot

Police have issued 15 warnings to people breaching covid regulations at a popular Swansea walking spot.

Fendrod Lake in Valley Way, Llansamlet, is usually a popular location for dog walkers, runners and people working out on the outdoor exercise equipment.

However, South Wales Police's joint enforcement team have issued several warnings to rule breakers on Thursday morning.

A statement shared on the force's Twitter account read: "Swansea Joint Enforcement team has issued 15 warnings to people breaching covid regulations at Fendrod Lake, Llansamlet.

"Start your walk from home. Driving to a beach or beauty spot is not an essential journey for most people."

Wales has been under alert level four since December 20, with current restrictions only allowing essential travel. This would include travelling to buy food, to go to work or education if you can't work from home, or to provide care for a vulnerable person.

The public are being urged to stay at home.

Officers in the city handed out 14 fines to people "travelling without necessity" in Swansea last weekend. Police attended the Mumbles and Bracelet Bay areas and issued the penalty notices/warnings to those travelling without necessity.

Police have also been carrying out vehicle stop-checks in Fabian Way and Mumbles Road following the most recent lockdown measures.

Police forces across Wales have also responded to crowds of people flocking to beauty spots including Pen y Fan and Snowdon.

The new Level 4 restrictions were introduced at the end of last year.
