Police have launched an investigation after the bodies of a mother and daughter were discovered inside an Airbnb property in Brisbane’s west.
Emergency crews were called to the Tinarra Crescent home in Kenmore Hills around 12:43pm on Monday to conduct a welfare check, where the pair were found dead.
“Upon arrival, police located a 54-year-old Norman Park woman and an 8-year-old girl, who were known to each other, deceased,” Queensland Police Service (QPS) said in a statement.
“A crime scene has been declared, and investigations are underway into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.”

Police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The property, which had been advertised on Airbnb for more than $1,000 a night, was described in the listing as a “relaxing, beautifully quiet” luxury home set on 2.5 acres backing onto Mount Coot-tha Forest. The listing has since been removed from the platform.
Speaking to ABC News, neighbour Andrew Offen described the neighbourhood as “communal” and “friendly”.
“Everyone on this leg of the street has lived here 10 years plus … except for [the crime scene property],” he said.
“It’s a perfect place to live, really.”

Local man Dirk Vandenbroucke, who has lived in the neighbourhood for 27 years, said he was unaware of the temporary residents.
“[We didn’t hear] much until there was a lot of [police] activity in the street,” he said.
“Then we were told something serious happened.”
Police are urging anyone with information or footage that may assist the investigation to contact them.
