Police investigation underway after 80-year-old cyclist seriously injured

Police are appealing for information after an 80-year-old cyclist was seriously injured following a collision in Altrincham.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a bike on Charcoal Road at 3.40pm on Thursday, May 28.

Enquiries established that a Fiat 500 car and a bicycle had collided at the junction of Dunham Road.

The cyclist, an 80-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

He remains in hospital where he is receiving treatment. No arrests have been made.

An investigation is now underway and GMP are appealing for anyone with information, particularly dash cam footage, to come forward.

PC Peter Cunningham, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the man as he receives treatment in hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and I appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact us.”
