Police investigation launched after woman raped in Sale

A police investigation has been launched after a young woman was raped in Sale.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a woman in her 20s had been raped on Woodhouse Lane.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 1.30am on Tuesday morning.

An area of woodland on nearby Cherry Tree Lane was sealed off for a number of hours on Tuesday as part of the investigation.

A statement released by GMP said: "Shortly after 1.30am, police were called to reports of a rape of a woman.

"The address was Woodhouse Lane. Our enquiries are ongoing."

Police have now left the crime scene.
