Police investigation launched after man is attacked in broad daylight on Coupar Angus street

Police are seeking witnesses to an alleged attack on a man said to have happened on a Coupar Angus street in broad daylight.

Investigating officers wish to speak to anyone who may have seen a man believed to be in his 30s punch a perfect stranger in the head on Commercial Street at around 12.20pm on Wednesday, March 3.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A man was approached by a complete stranger in the street and punched in the head in an unprovoked assault. Fortunately he wasn’t injured. The person responsible proceeded to verbally abuse and threaten the victim before walking off.

“Officers would like to trace a man described as white, in his 30s, about 6ft in height and with short dark hair, who was wearing a fluorescent yellow workman-type jacket.”

Anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is being asked to call 101 or speak with any officer. The crime reference number to quote when speaking to police is incident 1208 of March 3.
