Police investigation launched after car stolen from outside Wishaw shop

Police in Wishaw have launched an investigation after a car was stolen from outside a shop.

The white ‘21 plate Suzuki Jeep was parked at a store in Caledonian Road at around 9pm on Monday, July 12, when it was nicked.

Police say that the keys were left in the ignition with the opportunistic crook nipping into the driver’s seat before speeding off.

The car was seen travelling in the direction of Castlehill Road and the vehicle has yet to be recovered.

Officers are keen to speak to a man who was spotted near the car wearing a black Adidas tracksuit.

Elsewhere, police in Motherwell are hunting two youths following an incident involving a vehicle.

At around 8pm on July 8 in Vulcan Street, a man parked his grey Toyota Hilux.

As he was making his way back to the vehicle, around 50 minutes later, he noticed one of the windows had been smashed.

At that point, two male youths approached him with one possessing a knife.

Officers state one youth was wearing a grey tracksuit with a ski mask while another was wearing all black.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The youths made off quickly.

"However, we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at that time.”

Anyone with information regarding wither of these incidents is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
