Police investigation into death of 17-month-old toddler at house

A 17-month-old toddler was found dead at a house on Sunday.

Police have launched an investigation into the tragic discovery in Goole, East Yorkshire.

Officers were called to a house on Morley Street on Sunday.

Humberside Police said officers arrived at the scene and discovered the baby had died.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service and an air ambulance were also called to the scene of the incident in the Old Goole area of the town, reports Hull Live.

Witnesses said the helicopter landed on an area of waste land just off Swinefleet Road.

An ambulance was later seen leaving the address in Morley Street with blue lights and sirens closely followed by a police car.

Humberside Police have confirmed they are conducting an ongoing investigation in to the cause of the child’s death.

A post-mortem was due to take place today.

A police spokesperson said: "On Sunday 28 June we were called to a house on Morley Street in Goole.

"Sadly on arrival it was found that a 17 month old child had died.

"The circumstances of the child’s death are still subject of on-going investigation.

"A post mortem examination is to be completed today, Wednesday 1 July."
