Police investigating Workington crash as pedestrian seriously injured

A man has been taken to hospital after he was in collision with a car in Workington on Tuesday night.

The 70-year-old man suffered serious injuries following the incident in the centre of town at around 9pm.

Police said an investigation has begun following the crash, which happened at the roundabout by the junction of Solway Road and Bessemer Way.

The man, who has not been identified, has been taken to Cumberland Infirmary with serious leg injuries.

The car, which was driven by a 27-year-old man from Workington, stopped at the scene.
