Police investigating woman's death release murder suspect on bail

A man arrested on suspicion of murdering a pensioner at her home in Hale has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Dyanne Mansfield, 71, was found dead at her home on Canterbury Road on Wednesday morning last week.

A man was arrested on suspicion of her murder but was taken to hospital with serious neck and arm injuries.

Officers were called to the house just before 9.15am last Wednesday to a report of a woman with fatal injuries.

Emergency services attended and a 71-year-old woman - who was later formally identified as Dyanne Mansfield - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paying tribute to Dyanne, her family said last week: "Dyanne was a much loved wife, sister and friend to many, and will be greatly missed by all.

"She really enjoyed all the time she spent on holiday, and she got a lot of pleasure and enjoyment spending time out in her garden."

Neighbour Lawrence Capewell, 80, described a woman living at the property as 'very nice'.

"I'm just staggered.

"It's a massive, massive shock.

"On this estate there's people who've been here for many years, it's a very established, very friendly neighbourhood."

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to come forward and speak with police.
