Police investigating theft after man drops £1,000 on the floor of Newcastle casino

Police are investigating a theft after a man dropped £1,000 on the floor of a Newcastle casino.

Officers were called to a report that a man had dropped the cash in Aspers Casino at around 2.30am on Saturday, August 3.

The man later returned to collect the money to find it had been taken by somebody else.

Casino staff scoured CCTV and found another member of the public picked up the cash but did not hand it in.

Police are now treating the incident as theft and are making enquiries to trace the person responsible.

A CCTV image has been released of a man officers wish to speak to in connection with the crime.

The man, or anyone who knows him, should contact police on 101 quoting reference 098240E/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

You can also report it online at the Northumbria Police website or email the investigating officer on  3314@northumbria.pnn.police.uk .
