Police investigating suspicious death at residential village

Police were called to the retirement village by paramedics about midday.

Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man in Hadspen, in northern Tasmania.

Police arrived at Rutherglen Village, Rutherglen Road, about 12:00pm after a request for assistance from paramedics.

The man is believed to be in his 60s.

He was last sighted yesterday by one of his neighbours and his body was discovered inside one of the units today.

Inspector Craig Fox said the alarm was raised by concerned neighbours.

"At the moment we're unable to ascertain the cause of death," he said.

"The man's family have been identified and our thoughts are definitely with them at this moment.

"Until we have a full examination and a post-mortem conducted we won't be able to determine the cause of death."
