Police are investigating the suspected murder of a 27-year-old man, who was found in the early hours of Saturday morning suffering from significant stab wounds at a home in Canberra's north.
Police officers spent the day searching for a 26-year-old man who was taken into in custody on Saturday evening to assist officers with their inquiries.
No charges had been laid as of Saturday evening.
The incident occurred in Charnwood about 1.30am at the Silver Gums townhouse complex.
ACT Policing criminal investigations unit Detective Acting Superintendent Matt Craft said ambulance officers treated the man at the scene but were unable to save him.
"ACT Ambulance was called to an address in Charnwood in relation to reports of a male, who had extensive injuries including stab wounds," Acting Superintendent Craft said.
"Upon arrival, they treated a male and transported him to hospital via ambulance, and unfortunately the male died on the way to hospital [as a result of] of his injuries."
Police said a witness to the suspected murder, who was believed to be in the home at the time, was also assisting with police inquiries.
"[It is] obviously a very traumatic time for them and also for the families of all those who are involved," Acting Superintendent Craft said.
"It's certainly at terrible, tragic incident for them. We will be doing as much as we can to wrap as much support around them as we can."
The driveway to the Silver Gums townhouse complex was taped off and detectives and police were seen patrolling the site on Saturday afternoon.
