Police investigating reports of hate crime after Chinese woman has beer thrown at her from car

Police are investigating reports of a hate crime after two men in a car threw beer at a Chinese woman who was cycling home.

The woman was cycling along Manor Road, Keyworth, at around 8pm on April 23, when a car pulled alongside her.

It is believed one of two men inside threw beer at her before taking off in the car.

Nottinghamshire Police says the incident has been recorded as a hate crime following investigations.

Sergeant Sarah Merrall said: “The victim wasn't injured but she was left very distressed by what happened.

“Hate crime will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and the force is committed to tackling hate crime, supporting victims and bringing offenders to justice.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this particular incident and any drivers who may have recorded dashcam footage to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 835 of 23 April 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
