Police investigating reports of attempted armed robbery in West Belfast

Police are investigating reports of an attempted armed robbery at a shop in West Belfast last night.

The PSNI were called after 5.50pm to shop at Upper Dunmurray Lane following reports that a man armed with a knife entered the premises before demanding cash from a female staff member.

The woman refused to hand over any money and the suspect left empty handed.

He was described as being around 5’3” tall, of stocky build and was wearing a dark Parka coat and a blue face mask.

There were no reports of any injuries.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives are investigating the report of an attempted robbery at a shop at Upper Dunmurry Lane in west Belfast on Saturday 30 th January.

"It was reported that a man entered the shop, armed with a knife, at around 5.50pm on Saturday and demanded money from a female staff member. The staff member refused to hand over any money and the man then left the shop empty handed. He was described as being around 5’3” tall, of stocky build and was wearing a dark Parka coat and a blue face mask. There were no reports of any injuries.
