Police in Wishaw are appealing for information following a late night attack in the Pather area of the town.
Officers are investigating the assault which took place around 2am on Monday, September 27, outside a home in Rannoch Drive.
On the date in question, the 43-year-old man was in his car when he was approached by another individual who is believed to have got out of a small white van which was parked behind him.
It is believed the pair had a conversation and a short time later four other men, all dressed in black, approached the car.
The victim was then assaulted through the car window and his phone was taken. One of the rear windows of the car was also smashed.
The victim then fled the scene and contacted police.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to get contact them immediately.
