Police release CCTV from Galleries shopping centre in Washington in mobile phone fraud probe

Police investigating fraud in Hexham have released an image of a man they want to trace.

On February 19 this year, officers were contacted by a man from the town who reported somebody had been fraudulently taking out mobile phone contracts in his name.

An investigation was launched and police found an offender had made a number of similar applications for mobile phone contracts and online purchases using fraudulent details.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers have now identified a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

He was in the Carphone Warehouse store at the Galleries shopping centre in Washington at the same time that one of the suspected fraudulent actions took place.

He may have valuable information that can assist officers with their enquiries.

The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to get in touch via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website quoting log 1194 of February 19.

Alternatively, people can email 8400@northumbria.pnn.police.uk.
